I Can But Wait

I can but wait for ever
Watch the seasons passing by
The dragging ice of winter
And the snowflakes in the sky
And in all this time of waiting
Still your answer does not come
Perhaps the lighter days of spring
Will make it known that I'm the one
And when the summer nights
Are hot and days are longer still
Perhaps its then you feel you ought
To say "Sir, yes I will"
And even in the autumn grey
As clouds fill up with rain
I wait the very moment
When you might be mine again
And yet through all the seasons change
My heart tells me so sure
That one day, soon or later sweet
You'll sit with me once more
